Ah.... sounds like another happy owner. Nothing beats having the sky as your roof, the winds as your door, the visor as your windscreen, your legs as the engine, your brain as the computer chip, your arms as the power steering, and more maneuverability as 2 wheels less. Berserk...See you at the up coming group ride on 28 April 2007.

Hi all, sorry that my 1st post had to be about being chased out by the station master at Serangoon MRT  Cry .....

First saw a strida a year ago in London while visiting my friend there.. Fell in love wif it. Unfortunately, at that point of time the only place i could get it was from taiwan (Ming Cycles) it was only later that Ming Cycles emailed me to tell me about the agent here.

Been riding it around and although it's slow at times i have to say riding it is really fun! Other than the stares i get and "wow where did you get that?" it was quite cool!!  Grin

Will pop down the shop this week (thinking of getting the bag) and take a look around yah? thanks for the invite too!

Hi NGO

Welcome, welcome!!!  What is the colour of your Strida?  What kutis kutis do you have on your Strida?  Most of us have the pouch, the front and rear lights and some have the Strida luggage bag for keeping in the car and travelling.  Also, the new TurboBlaster Tyre Pump is popular cos it is very powerful, can pump up to 160 psi and kept on the Strida (aligned to its frame!) very sleek looking.  Oh, and those with the gel seat will tell, life is good with the gel seat! Mine's the satin silver one other than my brake levers (broke the orig one when my girlfren crashed it.... Shocked ) everything's still stock.

Just went down to the shop in the afternoon and bought myself a panier bag and the strida carry bag. Had a nice chat with Steven and Vivian, definitely will be back again to try the 5.

Now gonna print out the forum letter and highlight the important sentences and if i kena that station master again i'm gonna flash it in his face......

"My Name is Mark, and I am a Strida Rider.... " Grin  Folding bikes and Stridas really are an illness - totally addictive !

I have several Stridas, (and a few other folders). Strida is always my 1st choice for commuting to and across London - its simply the fastest (ie total journey time including; to and through stations, on the train, plus folding and rolling).

I recently met the team from Strida Singapore and they told me about this great forum - great to 'meet' you all.

Strida is most unstable during the push off, especially for a newbie. Make sure to tell anyone who is first riding a Strida to give a good... push off with his/her strong leg while the other one must be on the pedal to start pedalling after the push off. This will ensure the Strida is straight and stable once it is moving at speed.

Second point to note is lean back slightly and not to put any weight on the handle bar as any slight unbalanced force on the handle bar will sure make it turn to that side. This is especially so when you are just moving off. When you get better and go faster, you might also lean forward to pedal harder and faster. This again will cause the Strida to be unstable. The trick is to learn how to apply equal force on both the handle, be very sensitive and feel to any unequal force (might be cause by you or the uneven ground) on the handle and react timely (or quickly) to any uneven ground or debris.

So during push off, lean back slightly, hold onto the handle with minimum pressure, push off hard with your stronger leg and start pedalling with the other to gain speed. The leaning back is to ensure that the force generated during push off is transmitted from your leg to your butt to your seat and to the bike.

Some people love its handling sensitivity and some hate it. Those who love it, love it because of its maneuverability. Those who don't, most probably are too used to the handling of a normal bike as it is more forgiving to insensitive feel of the handle bar.

If you are not sure how the handling is, dont pedal. Sit on the bike and WALK.
Seriously, just walk and your 2 legs will balance the bike.
You can control the speed too, just walk faster if you want to go fast, and stand up while breaking if you want to stop immediately.
Unless your GF is too short, then no solution lah.

Hi Skywalker. Welcome to Strida SG forum. Can I call you Luke instead?  Tongue
A majority of the local here are Chinese. But a lot of them will have a hard time reading 繁体字(complex Chinese word) like me.  Tongue Some might have even forgot how to read 简体字(simple Chinese word). I have check out a couple of Taiwan forum. There is a pretty large group of followers of Strida there in Taiwan. Pretty interesting stuffs they have posted.

You have a very interesting Blog there, interesting stuff on the Strida. Particularly, the live demonstration on the Strida in an exhibition.

Will - ever thought of making your wife hobby same like yours as in cycling? Its a good form of exercise. You can both do it together and may even talk to each other while cycling. Exercise + communication with your wife + going places + making new mutual friends with your wife + finding great makan(eating) places. Can't find anything negative about it.

Hi Strida Riders

I bought my Strida on the 13 Jan 2007.I started by cycling to work via the park connector from Bishan Park to Potong Pasir MRT. From there I took a train to Clarke Quay MRT.

I stopped doing that after a couple of weeks when I was stopped by the Station Officer one day who only allowed me to board the train after 9:30am. Since then, I have been cycling all the way to work via the park connectors 2 to 3 times a week- depending on weather condition and my work schedule. Here's my 14km cycling route: http://client.furryfish.com/public/14km_to_work.jpg  which used to take me around an hour and 15mins but now only takes me an hour.

My Strida has helped me to keep fit, lose some weight, save money and do my bit for the environment.

Cheers!

Yes indeed, this Saturday group ride is part of my daily route. Let's hope it won't rain on Saturday.
The photo was taken on my way to work, along the Marina Promenade towards the Esplanade route.

By the weather trend, it looks like we have to wait for 30 mins for the rain to clear.

Hi folks! I just bought my strida today!!!!! a yellow one! I like yellow stuff  Grin

I plan to bring my strida to work everyday (if not almost everyday) and ride home after work. Currently I stay at Sims drive and work in Raffles place. I read in an earlier post (can't rem the nick) that he takes the kallang river-marina promenade route, that is the route that i'm going to take! I do jog home home from office on that route, but since now i've gotten my strida, i think I will ride and continue to try and jog once a week.

Can anyone tell me if you have any problems bringing your strida onto the MRT on weekdays (between 8.45am to 9am)?

My office don't have shower facilities...Anyone has got any suggestions for me to wash up after cycling to work in the morning? hehe, i don't wanna be a stinko in the office..
