Hi everyone,

I'm haloZero and I just got a white Strida 5.1 today! Had to wait through lunch to get Steven's attention, but luckily my boss not in office.

Rode back to office in Balestier after the purchase. Little fella rides great, but I do miss the gear changing I used to do on my old monsters. Also, the seat rocks! Uh, literally. I think the seat clasp may be loose or something.

My wife doesn't know I just blew $1k on a bike yet. Hmm... how to tell her...

Normally, a bicycle saddle will not rock unless it is design to be so. Just check whether the nuts under the saddle are lose...literally...

Tell her you bought her a 1k shopping cart....or it is actually 100 instead of 1k..... k both ideas will not work.
Just win her over by letting her ride it and be absorbed by your enthusiasm...
PS. You might need to blow another 1k...
PSS. Let her know there is a pink one too.

Enjoy the ride - relax in the simplicity - its almost zen-like Smiley

As for seat clamps - make sure the clamp around the top of the seat mounting is nice and tight (a long allen key is easier to get the screws really tight than the supplied key).
Then the nice thing is, unlike other bikes, you fix the seat height for your height and then it never needs to move - for life !

Hi  Wink
Come over this 2 days, maybe I need to shift the center pin to the top hole. That should solve it.
See you.

coolthought: Hahahahaha! I managed to siam the wife's wrath by inviting a long-time friend over to dinner. We had so much fun reminiscing she forgot to get angry with me liao. I think for 1k, she also won't ask me to buy another one for a while. I might see a Strida 6 or even 7 before she starts to bug me for one... but, wah, you also know my wife likes pink ah?

Mark: Thanks for the tip. I'll look Steven up though. Diginexx is nearby my office anyway, and I've been riding to work from the MRT...

Steven: I'll see you during lunch today, about 1pm.

Hi all,
I just got a green Brompton yesterday afternoon. Many thanks to Steven and Vivan for patiently answering all my questions...
I like the personal touch...  Smiley

Coasting down on this bike really brings back all those good old memories in East Coast Park again.

And Guess what, my dad who has not touched a bike for twenty years, just jumped
onto the saddle today and took to cycling like a duck to water.  Grin

 cheers,

Hi

Just bought my first Cream Strida 5.1 yesterday, love it! Ride it first time along coffee shop and attract all the stare! Some even know the name of the bike and ask me where i bought it from.

I enjoy the cruising of my Strida, feeling light and fast. Though it require some getting use to the lightness feel of the front wheel.  This is the best bike i ever ride on!

Hi,

After following this forum for a year, I finally got myself a red Carry Me SP yesterday. This is my 4th foldie but the little bright red bike received the most attention from my younger kids.
I went for a test ride this morning and it was surprisingly stable, quick and the riding position was comfortable. It was certainly less intimidating to other users when riding on the pavement (I know this is not legal but it is still my choice when riding with young kids).
Hope to learn more about the bike from riding more and the community in this forum.

Hi,

I just plonked some dough for a birdy alivio just before the turn of the year and I've decided that this will be my main commuting bike between my home at Springleaf to Fortune Centre.

Thanks to the patience and great service at diginexx, I've managed to weigh my pros/cons between the huge foldable selection and now I'm a proud owner of a canary yellow birdy. This is my 9th bike and I reckon it will clock the most mileage thus far.

When I've gathered enough saddle time, fine tuned my setup for my riding style and geometry, I'd write up a proper review of my bike.

Those who visit togoparts will know me from the same nick.

Cheers
Lewis.

I'm in San Diego, California. I am wondering if there are any other Carryme riders here!
Reason I got the Carryme: It's the only quality folder that fits in my rear trunk (boot) of my '88 Toyota MR2!

Hi jaynh,

Where is "here"?
To most of members here means Singapore Cheesy
Or do you literally means in this forum? There are plenty of carryme riders in this forum. There are a lot more carryme riders outside the forum (they seems to be a shy bunch).

Oh, so sorry. I meant 'here' in the U.S., or even in San Diego.
Here is why I bought the Carryme. I'm so glad I did! I also use it at work (I take it on the Metro to my office downtown)

I also have a faux A-bike with 8" wheels, but the ride and quality is never the same as the Carryme.
It fit's into the front trunk (front boot) of my MR2. I can carry 2 folders in my small car!

Hi Jaynh

wow. The CM is really made for the boot of the MR2. It is so fitting. And it is interesting that you can fit an A-Bike at the front. Nice pictures too.

You might want to share with us on taking the Metro with the CM and use it as a connection of the final part of your journey to work.

Do check out posts under CarryMe - Single Speed and Dual Speed and as well as posts in group ride photos.

Hi,

I am Telapak. I just got myself a Birdy Intego. I am currently based in Malacca. Now a short story on the motivation to get a folding bike! I was struck by gout in mid November 2008 and could hardly walk for several days. After undergoing series of 'bekam' (i.e cupping), taking herbs, and controlling my diet, thank God, I could walk again comfortably about a month later.

I was advised to do regular exercise but because of my weight (initially at 105kg, and later reduced to 93kg after the treatment for gout), the most suitable exercises are cycling and swimming. I decided to do both. But, when it came to choose a bicycle, I wanted something portable, something that could be packed easily, and above all something that is attractive and elegant. Hence the Birdy Intego.

I regularly cycle to work in Malacca and at various places during the weekend. Cheers.

Hi everyone,

I just bought a cream colour Srida 5.1 for my wife yesterday, we absolutely love the retro colour. She tried out the bike around our estate last night, I must say she really loves the bike and of course its colour. I think I'm also falling in love with the bike. Still considering if I should get one for myself coz I already have a road bike and MTB.

Anyhow, hope to join in the group rides soon.

Cheers!

Hi David,

I am more than happy to join the ride in Malacca at some other places. That 67km night ride in Singapore was fantastic! (though my current stamina has only reached 45km per day). And thanks for offering to handcarry the Birdy for me. I will definitely take the offer next time  Smiley. Let me know of your next return to Malacca.

Cheers.

Hi - I'm Anthony, living in UK - married to my Brompton - she's cheap, doesn't answer back and very faithful (never chases other men).

Made my first visit to Singapore this January, had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of you guys on the 63k ride on 17th - had a great time (had my first beancurd - yummie!).

Found Singapore to be a fantastic place for a folding bike and went absolutely EVERYWHERE on it, the quality of the roads, the terrain, the weather, the folder friendly transport system - memories!

Thats it - after 2 weeks of snow, frost and slush I am now as excited as a very excited person - flights booked for "some more Singapore"  mid' May - can't wait!

Might bump into some of you guys on my travels.  Grin

Hi Folks,

I just got my new Brompton on Valentine's day and took it for a 55k ride the following day. It was just brilliant, so I look forward to doing a 100K ride on it soon. Any takers, based in Singapore, give me a shout and we'll go and burn some rubber.

Cheers.

hi all, just got my brushed aluminium Strida 5.1 this afternoon.  The shop owners were really nice and friendly.

I wonder if the owners were ex-teachers?  Grin They were really patient when explaining to me how to fold and unfold the bike, and the various aspects of the bike. Cheesy Cheesy
