Hey everybody,

Nice to have a group identity for Strida 'ridas'.  I think I still have a new one (Strida 5) but I have been riding it for 8 months now...  I have a combined trip of about 45 miles each commute, but only 5 are on the bike.  I ride on a commuter train, very crowded when I get on so the Strida was the best answer.  No one has ever complained to me when I get on with my folded bike and I have found that it fits nicely in front of me when I sit in the regular close seating.  I sit at a window seat with the bike upright in front of me and a bit slanted under the seat ahead of me.  No problem, even a nice book rest to use for reading.  I sure appreciate how fast it folds up when the train shows up unexpectedly just as I arrive at the platform.  That makes you learn the quick fold moves effectively.

I wanted to mention that my biggest irritation during the ownership was that it started making a squeaking sound one day that would come and go, but seemed related to the pedalling.  I was almost embarrassed to ride it because it could be heard for half a block all around me.  Fortunately, after trying some different testing and adjusting and lots of squeaking along, I found that the reason was the seat.  After I took it off the frame, as though adjusting it, I sprayed the inside of the plastic frame, after prying it apart a bit, with some silicone spray, just the kind you buy for sticking drawers, etc.  Problem solved.  I have a nice silent month on it with no problem.  Just be sure to retighten everything properly when reassembling.

I look forward to sharing other ideas and being able to ask some questions of other owners.  Nice to be here.

Hi, and welcome to the community.

My brompton has suffered from squeaking too. Recently, I had to lube up my suspension as it was creaking piteously when I rode. I think that it is something we have to deal with more often, as our bikes contain hinges and foldable parts, and if you have suspension, you have components that rub continously against the frame. But my personal opinion is that it is a small price to pay for the convienience of our bikes being able to "get small".

Also, I would like to add that the Owner's manual often contains solid advice on maintenance. More often than not, minor faults like squeaks can be resolved by following the maintenance steps in the manual.

If not, there's always Mr Steven at Diginexx to consult.

It probably a lack of lubrication somewhere. When freshly shipped, the bikes usually only come with a minimal of lubrication.

To rectify the problem, you first gotta locate the source of the squeak. Do a test ride, and try shifting your weight to different areas of the bicycle. You sometimes can do it by sight as well. Areas with paint wear indicate rubbing has taken place there.

Most likely it comes from hinge located at d bottom of seatpost (that pc of screw below seatpost).  Tighten it & d sound might go away.

Hi Misnavi

There are many IF Reach riders but many are not in the forum, you can say the IF Reach riders are more low-key.....  Cool.

Hope you are LOVING your ride!!!

Wa so ya ya.
No you are not the 1st Strida Mini around. I have been riding it around Orchard road, China town and AMK central for a few days. Also white.
Anyway welcome. Glad to know you are enjoying the bike. Be careful not to go too fast if you are not experience rider, esp when going downhill. I feel this little guy a tad more switchy, extremely manuverable, more than Strida 3 or Strida 5 (larger type) prob due to smaller size. Combined with disc brake, I find it has very fast acceleration and deceleration - best combo for stunts, but seriously cannot be use for stunts.

I know it seems silly la... but since it's no longer the "work horse" and I have another in my stable for that very purpose, I might just as well get something that I like  Grin

Nothing is silly. May seem silly at first if you view that tikit is better than strida, but if you think the other way around, then it is not silly it is reasonably good. Grin So better or worse is a matter of perspective and ranking criteria used in making the decision. if you put gears weightage as zero and style as 10, touring as 0, confortable slow ride as 10 then strida win liao. The rider will looks weird riding slow using tiki but appropriate for strida. Cheesy
